SRINAGAR, Feb 8: The president of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Tariq Hameed Karra, conducted a review of organizational matters and activities across all districts of North and South Kashmir at the party headquarters in Srinagar along with senior party officials.
A follow-up review meeting will take place on Sunday for districts in South Kashmir. The initial phase included reviews for the districts of Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Srinagar, Ganderbal, and Budgam from both North and South Kashmir. The JKPCC chief will then assess party operations in Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, and Pulwama districts on Sunday.
During the meetings, District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents and senior leaders provided insights to the JKPCC president regarding the socio-political dynamics in their districts and detailed the public issues they face. Discussions focused on upcoming challenges, with a commitment to strengthen the Congress party for the welfare of the people.
Karra encouraged party members to actively promote the party’s programs and policies within their communities, emphasizing the importance of staying connected with the public and addressing their concerns. He reiterated that the Congress party will persist in its pursuit of the rights of the people, including the demand for full Statehood with constitutional protections to restore the dignity of Jammu and Kashmir.
“We will not cease our efforts until the Central Government honors its commitment to restore Statehood to J&K,” Karra asserted, reaffirming the party’s pledge to work towards the inclusive development of J&K, which has faced significant challenges due to the policies of the BJP Government at the Centre.
Karra also urged the Government to prioritize responding to public grievances, particularly regarding electricity tariffs, smart meters, unemployment, and various developmental issues affecting citizens. He noted that people have high expectations from the Government.
Among those who contributed to the discussions were Haji Abdul Gani Khan, Nissar Ahmad Mundoo, Abid Imityaz Bhat, MLA Irfan Hafeez Lone, and DCC presidents Irfan Naqib, Mushtaq Ahmad Tantray, Javed Ahmad Mir, and Muzaffar Dar.
