Jammu, Dec 9: A group representing migrant Kashmiri Pandits announced on Monday that it has lodged a police complaint concerning the purported derogatory and inflammatory comments made by Iltija Mufti, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and daughter of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti of Jammu & Kashmir.
In a statement released, the Kashmiri Pandit group known as ‘Youth 4 Panun Kashmir’ asserted that a police complaint has been filed against Iltija Mufti for allegedly making derogatory and inflammatory remarks about Lord Rama and the Hindu community.
Vithal Chowdhary, President of Youth 4 Panun Kashmir (Y4PK), has formally submitted a police complaint against Iltija Mufti concerning her inflammatory tweet directed at Lord Rama, Hindu beliefs, and Hindus.
The complaint has been filed with the Cyber Crime Cell in Delhi, claiming that her statements are extremely offensive, intended to provoke communal strife, and purposefully disparage Lord Rama, the Hindu faith, and its adherents. The complaint references Sections 302, 325, and 323 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, as well as Section 67 of the IT Act.
Another notable group of Kashmiri Pandits, Roots in Kashmir (RIK), has expressed support for the actions taken by Y4PK.
Amit Raina, spokesperson for RIK, commented that Iltija Mufti is a repeat offender, and they will provide all necessary assistance to Vithal Chowdhary to ensure she is held accountable for her derogatory and inciting remarks.
Youth 4 Panun Kashmir has urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the issue, block the objectionable content under Section 69A of the IT Act, and begin strict legal proceedings against Mufti.
“The organization, along with partners like RIK, reaffirms its dedication to seeking justice and safeguarding the integrity of all religious beliefs within India,” stated the announcement.
It should be noted that Panun Kashmir, the parent organization of ‘Youth 4 Panun Kashmir’, was the first to advocate for a designated homeland for the minority Kashmiri Pandit community within the Kashmir Valley, from which they were forcibly displaced by terrorists in the 1990s.
