Rudraprayag, Feb 26: Vijay Prasad Thapliyal, the Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, announced that the gates of Kedarnath temple will open at 7 am on May 2.
With this announcement, the opening dates for all four revered sites in the Garhwal Himalayas have been confirmed.
Badrinath Dham is set to open on May 4, while Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams will welcome pilgrims on April 30, coinciding with Akshaya Tritiya. Together, these four sites comprise the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit.
The auspicious date and time for the Kedarnath temple’s opening were determined by religious leaders and Vedpathis during the Mahashivratri celebrations, following prayers at the Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath, the winter residence of Baba Kedar.
The occasion was attended by Rawal Bhimshankar Ling, the chief priest of Kedarnath temple, along with Kedarnath MLA Asha Nautiyal, temple committee members, religious leaders, and numerous devotees, all gathered at the beautifully decorated Omkareshwar temple.
