NEW DELHI, Dec 1: On Sunday, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal criticized the BJP-led Central Government for its alleged lack of action regarding law and order issues. He asserted that instead of targeting criminals, there was an orchestrated attack on him during his padyatra in the city on November 30.

The BJP has not yet responded to these accusations. In a press conference, Kejriwal remarked, “The liquid thrown at me was harmless, but it could have been dangerous. This marks the third attack on me in just 35 days.” He also accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of sending a message that complainants would be arrested instead of the offenders.
Commenting on the arrest of AAP MLA Naresh Balyan, Kejriwal claimed it signaled to the citizens of Delhi and local gangsters that those who speak out against crime would face imprisonment, while criminals themselves would be safeguarded. “Amit Shah and the BJP have chosen to attack me and imprison my MLA instead of addressing the real criminals,” Kejriwal emphasized, stating that he was voicing genuine concerns regarding the deteriorating security situation in Delhi, rather than engaging in political theatrics.
Furthermore, he questioned how the citizens of Delhi could feel safe with a Central Government that neglects their concerns. “Where will the people of Delhi turn for their safety? Can they feel secure when I am arrested and my MLA is targeted?” Kejriwal asked, urging Shah to take responsibility for solving the crime issues in the city.
The AAP leader challenged the Union Home Minister, saying, “If you have the courage, go after the gangsters who are instilling fear in Delhi. Arrest those committing murders, rapes, and extortion. The people of Delhi demand tangible action against the criminals who dominate the city.”
Recently, a security incident occurred where a man splashed liquid on Kejriwal during his padyatra in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi. AAP leaders have alleged that the BJP is resorting to unethical tactics out of fear of facing a third consecutive defeat in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, set for February next year. The political tension between AAP and the BJP surrounding law and order issues is escalating, as AAP seeks a third consecutive term following its significant victory in 2020, while the BJP aims to end its 25-year absence from power in the national capital.
