AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal with Delhi CM Atishi and ex-MLA Manish Sisodia unveil the party’s manifesto detailing 15 guarantees for the upcoming Delhi Assembly election in New Delhi.

NEW DELHI, Jan 27: On Monday, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal launched the party’s manifesto, titled “Kejriwal ki Guarantee,” in preparation for the Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5.

During the launch event, Kejriwal criticized the BJP for allegedly imitating AAP’s promise-driven governance approach.

“We were the first to introduce the term ‘guarantee’ in this country. After us, the BJP adopted it, but there’s a key difference: we deliver on our guarantees, while they fail to do so,” he boasted.

The manifesto lays out 15 significant guarantees, with Kejriwal’s foremost promise being robust job creation for Delhi’s residents.

The second guarantee, part of the Mahila Samman Yojana, promises monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,100 for women. Additionally, the Sanjeevani Yojana will offer free healthcare services for senior citizens.

The fourth promise includes waiving any outstanding “hiked” water bills, while the fifth ensures continuous access to clean drinking water for every household in the national capital.

Other notable commitments include a plan to clean the polluted Yamuna River and improve the quality of Delhi’s roads to international standards.

Through the Babasaheb Ambedkar Scholarship Yojana, the AAP pledges scholarships for SC and ST students wishing to study abroad. Male students will also benefit from free bus rides and a 50% discount on metro fares.

The manifesto also proposes Rs 18,000 in monthly financial support for priests and Gurudwara Granthis, as well as extending free electricity and water benefits to tenants. Furthermore, AAP plans to enhance Delhi’s sewage system, issue ration cards to those who have been excluded from the eligibility system, and provide financial aid to auto and cab drivers. The party has also committed to offering Rs one lakh for weddings of daughters and providing Rs 10 lakh in insurance coverage.

Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) will receive funding to employ security guards and address safety issues in their neighborhoods.

Kejriwal highlighted that the AAP’s existing welfare programs, which offer approximately Rs 25,000 in monthly benefits to residents, will persist if the party remains in power.

“The BJP has openly stated they will terminate all these programs if they come to power. I urge the people of Delhi — can you afford to lose these benefits if the BJP takes control?” he asked.

The manifesto is portrayed as a reaffirmation of AAP’s governance philosophy, focusing on welfare and infrastructural development.

With the BJP poised to challenge the current administration, the upcoming elections are expected to be a fierce contest between the two parties. Election results will be announced on February 8.

This election is seen as a reflection on the AAP government’s governance model, which relies significantly on providing free welfare schemes. (Agencies)
