JAMMU, Dec 3: An outstanding all-round performance propelled Jammu and Kashmir to a pivotal victory over Uttar Pradesh in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy, BKC Mumbai, edging them closer to a knockout spot.
Chasing a target of 158 runs, J&K’s opening duo of Shubham Khajuria (85* off 59 balls) and Qamran Iqbal (37 off 20 balls) set the pitch alight with their aggressive batting. Iqbal’s explosive innings, featuring three fours and three sixes, laid a solid foundation before his dismissal. Khajuria, along with Abdul Samad (22), remained not out, steering J&K to a six-wicket victory in 19.1 overs.
Earlier, Shivam Mavi’s impressive 39 off just 14 balls helped Uttar Pradesh reach a competitive total of 157. For J&K, Murugan Ashwin shone with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 24 runs, while Abid Mushtaq contributed with 2 wickets for 27 runs.
Khajuria’s dazzling performance earned him the Player of the Match accolade. With both J&K and Uttar Pradesh sitting on 16 points each, they now look ahead to their final group matches on December 5, both vying for a place in the knockout stage.
