New Delhi, Jan 4: The president of Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, and former party chief Rahul Gandhi expressed their grief and sorrow following the tragic death of Indian soldiers due to an accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora on Saturday.
The Army’s Chinar Corps reported on X that during their duty in Bandipora, a vehicle belonging to the Indian Army skidded and tumbled into a gorge as a result of adverse weather and low visibility.
Officials indicated that three Army personnel lost their lives while two others sustained injuries.
“It is with deep sorrow that I acknowledge the heartbreaking incident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora, which claimed the lives of Indian Army soldiers in a vehicular accident.
“We honor their selfless dedication to our nation. Our deepest sympathies go out to the families of these brave souls. Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured soldiers, wishing them a swift and full recovery,” Kharge conveyed in a message on X.
The Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha recalled that a similar tragedy occurred last week in Poonch, resulting in the martyrdom of five soldiers.
“We urge the authorities to implement necessary measures to prevent such incidents attributed to unfavorable weather conditions and to ensure appropriate safety protocols moving forward,” he stated.
Rahul Gandhi, serving as the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, expressed his sorrow regarding the “martyrdom of many of our soldiers.”
“I pay my respects to the martyred soldiers and wish for the rapid recovery of those injured. My heartfelt condolences go to the grieving families,” he noted in a post on X in Hindi.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also extended her condolences to the bereaved families and offered prayers for the swift recovery of the injured soldiers.
