NEW DELHI, Dec 6: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge asserted on Friday the urgent necessity to uphold, defend, and cherish the principles of B R Ambedkar along with his paramount contribution – the Constitution of India.
“On the Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Babasaheb Dr Ambedkar, we convey our sincere gratitude to the zealous advocate of the Constitution and social justice,” Kharge expressed in a statement on X.
He emphasized that Ambedkar dedicated his entire life to promoting the democratic values of liberty, equality, fraternity, and justice.
“It is crucial at this moment to defend, protect, and uphold his ideals and reflections, as well as his greatest gift to the nation, ‘the Constitution of India,’” the Congress leader stated.
This day commemorates the death anniversary of B R Ambedkar, recognized as Mahaparinirvan Diwas. It celebrates the legacy of the man who provided the country with its first Constitution and advocated for the rights of the marginalized, striving to reshape India’s social structure. (PTI)
