Dubai, Mar 5: Indian cricket sensation Virat Kohli has ascended to the fourth position in the ICC ODI rankings for batters following his impressive match-winning innings of 84 against Australia in the Champions Trophy semifinal. Kohli’s advancement in the rankings comes at the expense of captain Rohit Sharma, who slipped two spots to fifth place, while South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen rose one position to take the third spot.
India’s vice-captain and opener, Shubman Gill, continues to dominate the list at the top, trailed by Pakistan’s Babar Azam in second place.
Other notable performances include spin all-rounder Axar Patel, who climbed to 13th place in the all-rounders’ rankings with a career-high rating of 194 points. Meanwhile, pacer Mohammed Shami also made strides in the bowlers’ list, moving up three positions to 11th with 609 rating points. Shami has taken eight wickets in the Champions Trophy so far.
In the all-rounders’ rankings, Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai has now reached the top after surpassing his compatriot Mohammad Nabi, with a total of 296 rating points after moving up two spots.
