JAMMU, Feb 1: To bring attention to their challenges, a group of over-aged Kashmiri Pandit (KP) relief holders met with the Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner, Dr. Arvind Karwani, today.
The delegation, headed by Kuldeep Kashmiri and Bharat Kachroo, highlighted the struggles faced by individuals who were aged between 16 and 35 during their displacement from their homeland.
During the meeting, the members informed the Commissioner that while their representation primarily targets the Government of India, they felt it was pertinent to go through the appropriate channels.
They recognized Dr. Karwani as an exemplary officer and requested his support in informing the authorities of the urgent issues confronting this specific generation.
The delegation also presented a list of their demands, which included a one-time financial compensation of Rs 50 lakh per individual to secure a dignified older age, permanent rehabilitation and housing solutions in Kashmir, allocated built-up living spaces at district centers, the conversion of relief funds into a permanent family pension with a minimum amount of Rs 30,000 per family, and simplified documentation processes to facilitate easier access to rehabilitation and financial aid.
Furthermore, they urged the Government to take swift action to resolve their enduring grievances.
