New Delhi, December 2: India’s Paralympic champion Kumar Nitesh has been nominated, alongside three others, for the title of Men’s Para Badminton Player of the Year, as announced by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Monday.
Nitesh, who secured his first gold medal in the SL3 category at the Paris Paralympics, will vie for the award against two-time Paralympic gold medallist Cheah Liek Hou (SU5) from Malaysia, Daiki Kajiwara (WH2) from Japan, and Qu Zimo (WH1) from China.
At 29 years old, Nitesh is also a two-time silver and one-time bronze medallist at the World Championships.
In the women’s category, the nominees include Li Feng Mei, Sarina Satomi, Liu Yu Tong, and Leani Ratri Oktila.
Qu, Liu, Oktila, and Li have the opportunity for a double nomination, as they are also in the running for the Para Badminton Pair of the Year alongside their respective partners, Mai Jian Peng, Yin Meng Lu, Hikmat Ramdani, and Lin Naili.
The winners will be revealed during the BWF World Tour Finals Gala Dinner on December 9. (Agencies)
