JAMMU, Feb 8: The recent results of the Delhi Assembly elections serve as a significant lesson, particularly for those who think they can take on the combined forces of the BJP and RSS independently, stated the Congress party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit on Saturday.
The BJP achieved a clean sweep, significantly diminishing the standing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and reclaiming power in Delhi after over 26 years, delivering a harsh setback to Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership.
“The election outcome reflects public discontent with the AAP, which governed for a decade but ultimately failed to fulfill its promises. Their excessive ambition and confidence in defeating the BJP alone contributed to their downfall,” commented Ravinder Sharma, chief spokesperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC).
He emphasized that the Delhi election results offer a valuable insight for all political entities, especially those who believe they can combat the BJP-RSS nexus in isolation while adopting opportunistic strategies or selectively addressing communal issues, thereby undermining the unified front led by Congress against these organizations.
“These election results underscore that any effective opposition to the BJP-RSS alliance cannot occur without the Congress, particularly while they are in power and wielding influence over various institutions such as the ED, CBI, IT, and other law enforcement agencies,” Sharma asserted.
He expressed optimism regarding the Congress party’s capacity to strengthen its position alongside like-minded secular entities in the ongoing battle against the BJP-RSS political ideology.
“While the Congress’s vote share in Delhi has improved, the overall results did not meet our expectations. However, the party’s revival as a significant force in future politics is assured, thanks to its consistent approach to political and policy matters,” he concluded. (Agencies)
