Jammu, Jan 27: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha officially launched the ‘Rashtriya Kavi Sammelan’ today at Abhinav Theatre, featuring poetry in Hindi, Dogri, and Urdu.
This three-day literary event is organized by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in celebration of the 76th Republic Day.
During the inauguration, the Lieutenant Governor congratulated the esteemed and emerging poets from Jammu & Kashmir and across the nation participating in the Poetry Sessions.
He expressed that the Rashtriya Kavi Sammelan, commencing today, showcases the richness and diversity of our exceptional literary heritage. “These sessions provide us the chance to explore a wealth of wisdom and the traditions that have thrived over thousands of years,” he remarked.
On this occasion, the Lieutenant Governor honored the legendary writers of Dogri, Hindi, and Urdu literature, underlining the crucial role poets and authors play within society.
“In India, every generation of poets and writers has significantly contributed to our creative tradition and cultural identity. They have also ensured the transmission of our traditions to future generations,” the Lieutenant Governor stated.
He urged poets and literary figures to embody the voice of patriotism and unity, contributing significantly to the creation of a dynamic, progressive, and unified society.
“Poetry as an art form carries a social responsibility. It serves as a potent tool for raising awareness about socio-economic issues, fostering patriotic spirit, and embodying the values of harmony and brotherhood,” he added.
The Lieutenant Governor noted that Jammu and Kashmir is undergoing a momentous transformation, emphasizing the collective commitment required for inclusive development and dedicated effort.
During today’s Hindi Poetry session, acclaimed poets including Harish, Upender Pandey, Rajesh Agarwal, Shambhu Shikhar, Deepak Saini, Chetan Charchit, Shailender Madhur, Rajesh Jain, Dharamveer Nishchal, Santosh Singh, Padmini Singh, and several other distinguished poets and emerging talents captivated the audience with their enchanting recitals.
Present at the event were Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary of the Culture Department; Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Commissioner of Jammu; Harvinder Kour, Secretary of JKAACL; notable artists; and a large number of participants, especially the youth.
