Jammu, Dec 7: Armed Forces Flag Day was commemorated today in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. To honor the occasion, the Armed Forces flag was affixed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhavan. Expressing his gratitude, the Lieutenant Governor contributed to the “Armed Forces Flag Day Fund” in recognition of the bravery and supreme sacrifices made by our soldiers, sailors, and airmen. He noted that the Armed Forces have consistently stood ready to serve the nation with unwavering commitment and have been instrumental during natural disasters.
“In Jammu and Kashmir, the Army plays a vital role in countering terrorism and ensuring a secure environment for residents, particularly for those living in border areas as well as remote and inaccessible regions of the Union Territory.
Thanks to the immense contributions of our armed forces, we are on a historic trajectory of rapid socio-economic growth, diligently working to extend the benefits of development to every corner of the Union Territory,” the Lieutenant Governor remarked.
He urged the people of J&K, especially those in privileged positions, to generously donate to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund as a gesture of remembrance and gratitude.
“I extend my best wishes to all current and former Armed Forces personnel and their families on this Armed Forces Flag Day,” he added.
Brigadier Gurmeet Singh Shan (Retd.), Director of the Sainik Welfare Department, J&K provided the Lieutenant Governor with insights into various schemes and initiatives aimed at supporting veterans, Veer Naris, dependents, and active Armed Forces members.
Among those present were Col. BS Sambyal (Retd.), Col. SS Assla (Retd.), Col. MS Bhau (Retd.), Wg Cdr Tirath Singh (Retd.), Subhash Chander, Suresh Kumar, and veterans including Bawa Singh, Ashwani Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Janak Singh, and Sh Rajinder Kumar.
