Jammu, Dec 29: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha participated in the Annual Day celebration of Jammu Sanskriti School, titled “Karmanya-The Power of Good Deeds,” at the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, Jammu University.
In his speech, the Lieutenant Governor congratulated the school management, educators, and students on this significant occasion. He acknowledged the invaluable contributions of numerous distinguished teachers and educationalists that have established the Jammu Sanskriti School’s esteemed reputation over the years, expressing gratitude for their efforts.
Sinha emphasized that the fundamental aim of school education is to ignite the intellectual potential of children. “The beginnings of a nation’s future are formed within school premises. Our education system’s overarching goal is to provide distinct opportunities tailored to each child’s unique personality, enabling them to innovate and contribute to the nation with their exceptional talents,” he stated.
He underscored the vital role teachers and educational institutions play in fostering an environment that enhances student confidence and motivates them to pursue knowledge and skill acquisition.
“In our rapidly evolving world, where technological advancements occur daily, the only skill that will remain relevant is Lifelong Learning,” he remarked.
Sinha observed that primary and secondary education represents a transformative phase in a student’s life, shaped significantly by the knowledge and influences they encounter during this time.
“The lessons learned during these formative years tend to last a lifetime, and it is crucial that we guide children in developing their decision-making skills and moral understanding of right versus wrong and good versus bad. Our focus must be on tailoring primary and secondary education to meet the demands of the contemporary world,” he added.
During the event, the Lieutenant Governor presented seven resolutions for educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir to embrace new technologies in education, promote both knowledge and values, and enhance students’ intellectual development.
“The first resolution advocates for making digital learning engaging and encouraging active participation from students. We should prioritize one-on-one mentoring over mere information transfer and provide experiential learning opportunities outside the classroom.
Teachers should share their life experiences, encourage students in data interpretation and problem-solving, and allow them the freedom to explore new concepts. Our emphasis should also be on project-based learning to help children apply their skills in various scenarios.
The seventh resolution focuses on ensuring ongoing training and capacity building for teachers, allowing them to continuously acquire new knowledge,” the Lieutenant Governor stated.
He further encouraged the youth to embody the principles espoused by Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, highlighting that the National Education Policy 2020 presents a remarkable opportunity. “Ignite your curiosity and explore new horizons in life through independent thinking, creativity, and problem-solving,” he advised.
The Lieutenant Governor also honored students who excelled in academics and various fields and launched the latest edition of the school magazine.
Present at the event were Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director of IIT Jammu; Harpreet Singh, Chairman of Jammu Sanskriti School; Rohini Aima, the school’s Principal; along with numerous teachers, students, and parents. Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner of Jammu; Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Commissioner of Jammu; and other heads of institutions and senior officials from Civil and Police Administration were also in attendance.
