Jammu, Dec 26: Today, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid homage to the Sahibzades, Mata Gujri Ji, and Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji during the ‘Vishesh Shaheedi Samagam’, a program hosted by the ‘All Jammu Kashmir Sikh Coordination Committee’ in celebration of ‘Veer Baal Diwas’ at Gurdwara Digiana Ashram.
“The Sikh Gurus have rendered unmatched sacrifices for the nation. India’s history is a testament to the Sikh community’s efforts and the Sikh Gurus’ dedication to uplifting society and defending its core values,” stated the Lieutenant Governor.
He highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated numerous measures to honor and revive the legacy of the Sikh Gurus.
To facilitate smooth pilgrimages, the Sri Kartarpur Sahib corridor was established, and modern infrastructure has been developed for devotees, he added.
The Lieutenant Governor also mentioned that the Government has secured FCRA registration for the Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, Sri Darbar Sahib, Punjab, enabling the global Sikh Sangat to engage in sewa.
He noted that the principles of the esteemed Sikh Gurus inspire society to advance towards peace and progress while strengthening our commitment to Maa Bharti.
While addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor urged the younger generation to draw lessons from history, honor the sacrifices of the brave Sahibzades, and cherish the legacy of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
“The life and teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji serve as a beacon for our soldiers safeguarding the nation’s borders. This solemn occasion reminds us all to uphold national unity and integrity while fostering brotherhood,” he remarked.
He emphasized that the traditional values imparted by the Sikh Gurus epitomize the invaluable spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, motivating us to transform India into a stronger, more progressive, and advanced nation.
“On ‘Veer Baal Diwas’, let us commit to reminding every segment of society of the supreme sacrifices made by Pujya Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, Mata Gujri, and the four Sahibzades,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor praised the significant contributions of the Sikh community towards the comprehensive development of the nation, expressing a commitment to building a stronger and more prosperous India.
Additionally, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the Government’s efforts to address long-standing issues faced by the Sikh community, including the installation of a statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji in Jammu, the establishment of the Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chair at Jammu University, the implementation of the Anand Marriage Act, and the notification of its rules.
Reinforcing the Government’s dedication to promoting the Punjabi language, the Lieutenant Governor announced that a curriculum is currently being developed to foster the Punjabi language in Jammu region schools.
He also recognized the achievements of Sikh community youth who have excelled in various fields.
Mahant Manjeet Singh; Ajit Singh, Chairman of the All Jammu Kashmir Sikh Coordination Committee; members of the Sikh Coordination Committee, and distinguished individuals from the Sikh community were present.
Dr. Narinder Singh Raina, MLA RS Pura Jammu South; Anand Jain, ADGP Jammu; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; along with senior officials from the Police and Civil administration, also attended the event.
