Jammu, Jan 19: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, made a heartfelt appeal on Sunday for his inclusion in the organ donors’ list maintained by the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation.
This request was made at an event organized by the Bharatiya Jain Sangathan in collaboration with SS Jain Sabha in Jammu and Kashmir to promote organ donation awareness.
“I urge the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) to register my name as a donor. Embracing organ donation should be a core value in life. This selfless gesture profoundly impacts not just the recipients but also resonates with their families and loved ones,” he stated.
Sinha conveyed his appreciation for voluntary organ donors, encouraging everyone to participate in this noble initiative of organ and tissue donation.
“For those who donate, it’s a life-affirming gift. Let us unite our efforts and contribute meaningfully to society through organ and tissue donation,” emphasized the lieutenant governor.
He praised the Bharatiya Jain Sangathan for its significant contributions in motivating individuals towards organ donation and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to supporting social organizations and volunteers involved in this critical cause.
Sinha called for a concerted effort to make organ transplantation both affordable and accessible, leveraging modern technology across public and private healthcare facilities.
He also stressed the importance of establishing permanent help desks dedicated to organ donation and transplantation in hospitals to provide accurate information and dispel misconceptions surrounding organ donation.
“Organ and tissue donation camps should also be organized in collaboration with all stakeholders in hospitals to educate and encourage the community,” he concluded.
