He lauded the ‘One Nation – One People – One Culture’ initiative, asserting its crucial role in fulfilling the vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.
The lieutenant governor stated that this initiative empowers the youth to genuinely experience and appreciate the essence of unity amidst diversity.
Sinha interacted with young individuals from the north-eastern states who were in Jammu as part of the ABVP’s Students Experience in Inter-State Living (SEIL) program at the Convention Centre.
“The SEIL programme, initiated in 1965, has fostered an emotional connection between the youth of the north-east region and the rest of the country,” he remarked.
He commended the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for its dedication to promoting national unity and providing youth with platforms to experience unity in diversity.
“I take immense pride that the ABVP, as the world’s largest student organization, significantly contributes to nurturing the spirit of unity and camaraderie. By bridging geographical gaps, it has linked the youth with the cultural essence of India,” he stated.
Sinha emphasized that a unique aspect of the SEIL programme is that each student is welcomed into a local family, treated as a family member rather than a guest.
“This remarkable opportunity allows students to immerse themselves in local cultures and lifestyles while host families also have the chance to appreciate Bharat’s rich cultural diversity,” he added.
“The cornerstone of our unity in diversity is our emotional connection, and I trust that all students felt this during their stay with families in Jammu. I hope the principles and values of unity they have absorbed during this visit will guide them throughout their lives,” he further expressed.
The lieutenant governor also discussed the developmental progress of the north-eastern states under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He paid homage to notable figures from the north-east, acknowledging their contributions to nation-building.
Sinha encouraged people to visit the north-east in large numbers to enjoy its natural beauty and hospitality.
He also inspired the visiting youth to serve as ambassadors for the New Jammu and Kashmir.
The students from the north-eastern states shared their experiences regarding the SEIL programme during the event.
