KOLKATA, Nov 30: A leading federation representing life insurance employees announced its intention to initiate a nationwide campaign aimed at advocating for several key demands, which include the removal of GST on insurance premiums and a halt to any further increases in foreign direct investment (FDI) within the sector.
While addressing the All India Life Insurance Employees’ Federation (AINLIEF) conference, General Secretary V Narasimhan stated that they will seek the support of Members of Parliament from all political affiliations.
Delegates from all over the nation are present at this All India Triennial General Conference.
Among the federation’s other demands are the repeal of the new labour codes and the reinstatement of the old pension scheme for those employees who joined LIC after 2010.
Currently, FDI in the insurance sector stands at 74 percent, and the government is considering raising this limit to 100 percent, according to Narasimhan. (PTI)
