JAMMU, Jan 16: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary emphasized the essential role of local industries in creating jobs and enhancing the regional economy. “The local industrial sector is crucial for boosting the economy of an area, and the current government is dedicated to fostering its growth through various supportive measures and industry-friendly initiatives,” stated the Deputy Chief Minister during his visit to the Jammu & Kashmir Industries (JKI) showroom at Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu today.
He was accompanied by Managing Director of JK Industries, Vikram Gupta, along with other senior officials. This visit reaffirms the government’s commitment to promoting local industries and supporting the development of indigenous and traditional products.
During the tour, Choudhary examined several stalls featuring a diverse range of products from JKI, including those made from the famed mulberry silk and local wool, both integral to the region’s cultural and textile heritage.
Commending the quality and authenticity of the showcased products, the Deputy Chief Minister praised JKI for its dedication to preserving traditional skills, particularly those associated with the renowned Kashmiri mulberry silk. He suggested that to enhance JKI’s product competitiveness, management should prioritize more scientific and rigorous marketing strategies, alongside quality and design improvements aligned with current national and international market standards.
“We are committed to bolstering local industries to stimulate economic growth and create job opportunities in J&K. The present government will extend all necessary support to JKI and other local ventures to ensure their sustainable development and global competitiveness,” he emphasized.
The visit concluded with Choudhary encouraging JKI officials to sustain their efforts in promoting local crafts, essential for the region’s economic progress and job creation.
