NEW DELHI, Feb 26: On Wednesday, Micromax Informatics, a well-known consumer electronics brand, announced its foray into the renewable energy sector by launching ‘Startup Energy,’ a new initiative focused on producing solar panels.
According to the company, Startup Energy aims to manufacture solar panels for residential, commercial, and industrial use.
Rajesh Agarwal, Managing Director of Micromax Informatics, stated, “Our objective is to make clean energy more accessible, reliable, and affordable, allowing individuals and businesses to take advantage of sustainable energy solutions. By investing in advanced solar panel production, we aspire to support India’s efforts toward energy self-sufficiency while contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future by minimizing our carbon footprint.”
Based in Gurugram, Micromax has entered into a strategic partnership with Jinchen to implement a phased rollout of a 5GW advanced solar module manufacturing line, which will unfold in several stages.
“By capitalizing on Jinchen’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and Micromax’s track record of scaling technology-driven innovations, Startup Energy aims to significantly accelerate India’s transition to clean energy,” Micromax noted in a press release.
The solar energy sector in India has experienced significant growth in recent years. With the government aiming for 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, there is a rising demand for high-quality, locally produced solar panels.
