KATHUA, Nov 30: Member of the Legislative Assembly for Kathua, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, alongside District Development Commissioner Dr. Rakesh Minhas, launched a significant drinking water initiative for the town of Nagri Parole, with a budget allocation of 12.5 crore.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan highlighted that this project, funded with 12 crore and 50 lakhs, will be transformative for Nagri Parole, the second-largest town in the Kathua Assembly constituency.
The project involves the construction of two tube wells and three Overhead Tanks (OHTs) and is part of the “Amrut Component of the Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme.” It also includes the installation of new pipelines and aims to connect 1,995 households to fresh water. The project is set to be completed within nine months, with the executing agency tasked with its operation and maintenance for the subsequent five years. Once operational, this project will meet the safe drinking water needs of Nagri Parole until 2040.
In his address, the District Development Commissioner, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, emphasized the importance of quality workmanship and urged for the timely completion of this major endeavor. He noted that the project would address current safe drinking water needs while also preparing for future demands.
The event was attended by local DDC member Sandeep Majotra, Executive Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department, Girdhari Lal Gupta, AEE Himanshu Verma, various Junior Engineers, Mandal Pardhan Arpan Verma, former Councilor Rakesh Saini, youth leader Sunny Kajotra, Rejay Kumar, and numerous residents of Nagri.
