KISHTWAR, Dec 6: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Paddar-Nagseni and Leader of Opposition (LOP) in the J&K Assembly, Sunil Kumar Sharma, alongside MLA Kishtwar, Shagun Parihar, held a meeting with the district administration to discuss government initiatives aimed at boosting socio-economic development in the region.
The meeting included participants such as Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajesh Kumar Shavan, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Javaid Iqbal, and ADC Pawan Kotwal, as well as district heads from various line departments and sectoral officers.
District officials provided updates to the legislators on the ongoing development and welfare programs being executed in both the Paddar-Nagseni and Kishtwar Assembly Constituencies.
Key project updates and activities across various sectors were discussed, with a focus on public welfare and infrastructure enhancement.
The MLAs conducted a thorough review of various developmental challenges, particularly those concerning road connectivity via PMGSY and PWD, PMEGP, MGNREGA, Awas Plus, along with water and electricity supply, and the handicrafts and agriculture sectors. The implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes was also discussed in depth.
The legislators emphasized the necessity of addressing critical public concerns and instructed officers to ensure careful planning for development projects, taking local needs and community feedback into account.
Sunil Kumar Sharma encouraged officials to set achievable targets and maintain a steadfast commitment to delivering results through effective oversight. He also requested an extensive review of Sub-Division-specific projects, such as the Naigad Water Supply Scheme, Kishtwar Water Lift Scheme, and the district’s power distribution infrastructure. He pointed out existing system gaps and urged immediate corrective actions.
Shagun Parihar highlighted the importance of implementing a power cut schedule to alleviate winter inconveniences.
In discussions surrounding the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP), MLA Sharma called for improved public service delivery and emphasized the need to realize the agricultural and industrial potential of the area. He proposed setting up “Model Vegetable Villages” to promote local cereals, organic vegetables, and pulses, leveraging the district’s agricultural advantages.
Earlier, DC Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, provided an overview of the district profile, showcasing major ongoing projects and good governance efforts.
Both MLAs expressed satisfaction with the initiatives undertaken by the district administration but stressed the necessity for continued efforts to address infrastructure and service delivery disparities. They encouraged officers to adopt a proactive stance in resolving public grievances and addressing developmental needs.
In his concluding remarks, Sunil Kumar Sharma, MLA Paddar Nagseni, highlighted the importance of collective commitment and stressed adhering to strict timelines while ensuring accountability in all developmental efforts.
Shagun Parihar, MLA Kishtwar, expressed confidence in the district officers’ capabilities and urged them to strengthen their ties with the community. She emphasized the significance of actively listening to public grievances and ensuring the efficient implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes to comprehensively meet the community’s needs.
The review meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Shahnawaz Bali, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Idrees Lone, and Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Phulail Singh, along with other district and sectoral officers.
