PARIS, Feb 12: During their trip from Paris to Marseille, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron engaged in bilateral discussions aboard the presidential aircraft. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized that India-France relations have “literally reached new heights.”
In a media briefing in France regarding the ongoing visit, Misri stated that the two leaders exchanged perspectives on recent geopolitical developments in Europe, West Asia, and the Indo-Pacific region while addressing both global and regional issues of significance.
On Tuesday, Modi and Macron co-chaired the AI Action Summit in Paris, participated in the India-France CEO’s Forum, and subsequently traveled to Marseille.
The foreign secretary highlighted that their journey to Marseille was made possible by “the French presidential aircraft,” which he described as “an exceptional gesture from President Macron, symbolizing the deep personal trust and remarkable confidence the two leaders have in each other.”
“You could say that the ties between India and France have truly soared to new heights,” Misri remarked, noting that additional discussions also took place in Marseille.
“We covered a broad spectrum of our extensive and diverse strategic partnership,” he added.
The two leaders reviewed collaborative efforts in areas such as defense, space, civil nuclear cooperation, public health, and people-to-people connections, as noted by the foreign secretary.
He further mentioned that AI emerged as a “major area” of focus in their bilateral discussions. (PTI)
