NEW DELHI, Feb 2: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that the India-Indonesia relationship transcends geo-political dimensions and is deeply rooted in a shared cultural and historical legacy spanning thousands of years.
The Prime Minister delivered these comments during the Maha Kumbabhishegam event of Shri Sanathana Dharma Aalayam in Jakarta, Indonesia, through a video message.
He asserted that the connection between both nations is founded on heritage, scientific collaboration, faith, shared beliefs, and spirituality, citing figures such as Lord Murugan, Lord Ram, and Lord Buddha as key components of this bond.
Modi noted that Indian visitors to the Prambanan Temple in Indonesia often feel the same spiritual resonance they experience in places like Kashi and Kedarnath.
He pointed out that the narratives found in Kakawin and Serat Ramayana evoke similar sentiments as those in India’s Valmiki Ramayana, Kamba Ramayana, and Ramcharitmanas.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the Indonesian version of Ramleela is also presented in Ayodhya, India.
Modi remarked, “Hearing ‘Om Swasti-Astu’ in Bali evokes the blessings of Vedic scholars from India for many Indians.”
He observed that the India-Indonesia relationship is intricately woven with many robust threads.
He underscored that the newly established grand Murugan Temple in Jakarta represents a significant addition to their enduring shared heritage and expressed optimism that it will serve as a new hub for faith and cultural values.
During his address, the Prime Minister also conveyed his regards to President Prabowo Subianto, along with Chairman of the Murugan Temple Trust Pa Hashim and Managing Trustee Dr. Kobala.
“The cultural values, heritage, and legacy are pivotal in strengthening the people-to-people connections between India and Indonesia,” he noted.
