Rajouri/Jammu, Dec 16: On Monday, police reported the arrest of five suspected drug traffickers who were found with over five kilograms of heroin near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.
The confiscated heroin, valued in the crores in the international market, was seized in the Nowshera sector, effectively preventing an attempt to smuggle the illegal substance across the border, the authorities stated.

During a collaborative operation between the Army and the police on Sunday night in the frontline villages of Sher and Kaneti, Sajan Kumar, 25, and Subash Chander, 36, were apprehended with 5.3 kgs of heroin, according to an official.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (Rajouri), Gaurav Sikarwar, noted that the heroin was recovered close to Makri Bhawani.
The suspects were charged under various provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Additionally, two other drug traffickers, Vaneet Sayal and Sourav Kumar, were also arrested with 11 grams of heroin during a routine check at Salani.
Sikarwar also mentioned the apprehension of another suspect, Mohd Yousuf, while his accomplice fled during a check near Children’s Park in the town.
Authorities recovered a total of 689 strips of tapentadol tablets (6890 tablets), 36 strips of pregabalin tablets (540 tablets), and six strips of tramadol tablets (60 tablets) from the peddler.
On Saturday, the Border Security Force intercepted a Pakistani drone and seized nearly half a kilogram of high-grade narcotics along the international border in the Arnia sector of Jammu.
