NEW DELHI, Feb 7: Auto components leader Motherson announced on Friday that it has formed a joint venture with Japan’s Sanko, a key player in the material handling industry, to deliver sustainable packaging solutions in India and Europe.
The new joint venture (JV) is set to enhance material handling efficiencies and reduce overall logistics costs, as stated by Motherson.
This collaboration with Sanko represents a strategic diversification opportunity for the group, according to Motherson Chairman Vivek Chaand Sehgal.
“We believe that redefining packaging as an engineered solution rather than a mere commodity can unlock significant logistics, cost, and value efficiencies within supply chains,” he remarked.
More crucially, Sehgal noted, “We view this partnership as a means to assist our customers in meeting their sustainability objectives.”
Sanko President Toshihiko Goto expressed, “We are confident that by merging Motherson’s global reach with our extensive experience and expertise in sustainable packaging solutions, we can add substantial value to Motherson and our esteemed customers.”
The joint venture aims to offer groundbreaking, sustainable solutions for both automotive and non-automotive sectors by leveraging Sanko’s engineering prowess and years of innovation alongside Motherson’s extensive footprint in India and Europe, the statement added.
Founded in 1951, Sanko is Japan’s premier manufacturer of plastic material handling products and a leading firm in the sustainable packaging domain, serving a wide array of industries, it noted. (PTI)
