JAMMU, Jan 28: In a meeting held today, Member of Parliament Lok Sabha Jugal Kishore Sharma, along with MLAs Arvind Gupta, Sham Lal Sharma, and Yudhvir Sethi, convened with General Manager of NHIDCL, S S Sangawan, to assess the development of ongoing infrastructure projects in the Jammu region. The discussions centered on various issues residents are facing, particularly those related to inadequate drainage systems.
During the meeting, MP Kishore urged NHIDCL officials to conduct a comprehensive evaluation and formulate long-term solutions to mitigate these challenges.
He also underscored the Centre’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure enhancement in Jammu, assuring that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the region is poised for substantial growth.
Kishore committed to taking prompt action to resolve the issues highlighted, reiterating the Government’s dedication to ensuring that development projects benefit the community without causing undue hardship.
MLA Arvind Gupta raised alarms regarding continual rainwater drainage issues stemming from the flyover, which are leading to flooding in residential sectors and imposing serious challenges on the residents. He stressed the urgent need for immediate corrective actions, including the establishment of an efficient drainage system to prevent waterlogging, and called on NHIDCL and relevant authorities to hasten their remedial efforts to prevent further distress to citizens.
In response, General Manager S S Sangawan assured the public representatives that appropriate measures would be promptly undertaken to tackle the concerns that were discussed.
District President Rajesh Gupta, Mandal President Kushant Daffara, and Anil Angral were also in attendance at the meeting.
