JAMMU, Jan 14: Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Er Gulam Ali Khatana presided over a review meeting for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today, stating that the BJP-led Central Government is keen to enhance BSNL services in both rural and urban areas.
He emphasized the need for BSNL services to be on par with those of other telecom service providers. “BSNL officials must exert more effort to regain consumer trust and improve BSNL’s revenue figures. This can only be accomplished if they adopt a customer-centric approach,” he remarked.
During the meeting, the MP addressed various agenda items and voiced his concerns regarding the subpar call quality in certain areas of Jammu province.
From BSNL’s side, a comprehensive report detailing the services offered and the initiatives taken to enhance service quality was presented by Principal General Manager for the Business Area Jammu, Mumtaz Ahmed. He provided an overview of the telecom facilities available in each of the ten districts of Jammu province.
The PGMT, BA Jammu informed that under the Government of India’s 4G Saturation project, all uncovered villages are being equipped with 4G connectivity. Additionally, he noted that BSNL has launched FTTH and Air Fiber services to furnish high-speed internet in line with the Digital India Mission. Phase-3 plans to cover all Block headquarters and Gram Panchayats with high-speed internet through Fiber.
The MP also raised concerns regarding the inadequate visibility of BSNL services in Jammu BA. He was particularly worried about the lower number of BSNL mobile towers relative to other telecom service providers and believed that BSNL officials should prioritize improving service quality and customer satisfaction by increasing tower availability.
Other BSNL officials present included Nand Kishore, Rajesh Khanna, Rakesh Sharma, Rajesh Shama, Pran Nath Raina, Vijay Kumar Sharma, and A K Maurya.
