NEW DELHI, Dec 17: Taiwanese laptop manufacturer MSI announced on Tuesday the launch of its manufacturing operations in India with its inaugural facility located in Chennai.
In alignment with the “Make in India” initiative, MSI will roll out locally produced versions of two laptop models — the MSI Modern 14 and MSI Thin 15, as stated by the company.
“India has emerged as one of MSI’s rapidly growing markets, with the brand progressively extending its reach across the nation.
“As the demand for high-performance laptops continues to grow, MSI is eager to play a role in India’s flourishing tech ecosystem by providing locally manufactured devices that adhere to global standards,” the statement added.
To improve product accessibility in India, MSI is expanding its network of distribution points, including an increase in laptop brand stores and availability at Croma and Reliance Retail, it mentioned.
The locally made Thin and Modern series of laptops will debut at retail prices starting from Rs 73,990 and Rs 52,990, respectively.
Looking forward, MSI indicated its intention to offer more powerful configurations of the Thin series to cater to a diverse audience in India.
“India has consistently been a focal point for MSI, and the rising demand for high-performance laptops has been crucial to our decision to initiate local manufacturing.
“We believe that this marks the start of a new chapter in MSI’s journey, aiding in deeper penetration of the Indian market while improving operational efficiencies, thus contributing to India’s aspiration to become a global technology leader,” said John Hung, NB General Manager, MSI India. (PTI)
