JAMMU, Feb 11: Muskan, a gifted gymnast from Jammu and Kashmir, has brought honor to the Union Territory by clinching the esteemed All-Round Best Gymnast title along with a Gold medal at the ongoing 38th National Games in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Muskan showcased an outstanding performance across all four gymnastics disciplines – Hoop, Ball, Clubs, and Ribbon, amassing a total of 101.10 points, which earned her the highest accolades in the competition.
Additionally, another rising star in gymnastics from J&K, Manya, secured 4th place in the All-Round Best Gymnast category, further emphasizing the strong representation of J&K gymnasts on the national platform.
The Secretary of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Sarmad Hafeez, extended his congratulations to Muskan and Manya for their extraordinary accomplishments. He expressed great pride in their achievements, stating, “These remarkable performances by the gymnasts showcase the remarkable talent and resolve of our athletes.” Secretary of the Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, also commended the gymnasts, acknowledging the burgeoning sports ecosystem in J&K.
Kiran Wattal, vice president of the Gymnastics Federation of India, recognized the contributions of coaches, including Arjuna Awardee Krupali Singh and Manisha Gupta, for their commitment to training the athletes. He credited the J&K administration, led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, for its dedication to developing top-notch sports infrastructure and creating pathways for young athletes. He further emphasized the roles of Sarmad Hafeez and Nuzhat Gul in fostering sports across the region.
