Nadda further highlighted the necessity for MLAs to be attentive listeners to effectively address public concerns, encouraging them to regularly engage with SC/ST communities to promote inclusive growth. Drawing from his own experiences as an MLA and Leader of the Opposition, he offered valuable advice for establishing rapport with constituents. He encouraged legislators to actively interact with communities through initiatives like Krishi Vigyan Kendras, meetings with Asha workers, and parent-teacher consultations in government schools. Emphasizing the significance of “Karyakarta Nirman”, he called for improved cooperation between elected officials and organizational leaders.
The second day of the training workshop featured insightful discussions on leadership, governance, and public engagement, with speakers stressing the necessity of organizational training for elected officials. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, present at the closing session, remarked to reporters that BJP MLAs are well-equipped for evidence-based debate in the Assembly. He asserted that the ruling party must be held accountable for the non-implementation of vital Central schemes in Jammu and Kashmir, which have failed to keep pace with other regions of the nation. He expressed hope that BJP MLAs would present public concerns grounded in logic and facts.
The day began with a welcoming address by Sat Sharma, BJP President for Jammu & Kashmir, followed by a session on “Panch Nishta and Panch Parivartan” (Five Commitments and Five Transformations) led by Shiv Prakash, National Joint General Secretary (Organization). Rupesh Kumar, Prant Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), delivered an insightful lecture on the current socio-political dynamics of Jammu & Kashmir, highlighting its historical significance in India’s struggle for independence. Former Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe hosted an interactive workshop focused on office management, public speaking, team-building, and social etiquette, providing MLAs with essential tools for effective governance and public interaction.
The sessions concluded with a commitment from participants to adopt a service-oriented approach, aligning with the BJP’s principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.” Attendees included National General Secretary & Prabhari J&K Tarun Chugh, Leader of the Opposition in J&K Sunil Sharma, General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, MP Lok Sabha Jugal Kishore Sharma, General Secretaries Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal & Vibodh Gupta, MP Rajya Sabha Ghulam Ali Khatana, former Deputy Chief Ministers Dr. Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta, former BJP President Ravinder Raina, District President Reasi Rohit Dubey, and various senior party leaders.
All 28 BJP MLAs attended the two-day training workshop, which consisted of ten sessions designed to provide them—many of whom are first-time legislators—with the skills necessary for effective constituency service and meaningful contributions to the legislative process. In one session, former Speaker Kavinder Gupta and twice-elected MLA R.S. Pathania educated legislators about the procedures and operations of the Legislative Assembly.
Prior to the workshop’s conclusion, J.P. Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh visited the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine atop the Trikuta Hills, offering their respects at the sanctum sanctorum. They were accompanied by BJP leaders Tarun Chugh, Sat Sharma, and others. Upon their arrival at Katra, the shrine’s base camp, they were welcomed by Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. The CEO updated the Union Ministers on various initiatives undertaken by the Shrine Board and discussed ongoing efforts to enhance and expand existing infrastructure to accommodate the increasing number of pilgrims visiting the sacred site.
