India’s Shubman Gill celebrates his half-century during the first One Day International (ODI) against England at Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

NAGPUR, Feb 6: Shubman Gill played a pivotal role in India’s innings with a solid 87 runs, leading the team to a four-wicket victory over England in the first One Day International. This win gives India a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Chasing a target of 249, India successfully reached the goal in just 38.4 overs.
Despite a shaky start, losing openers Rohit Sharma (2) and Yashasvi Jaiswal early on, Shreyas Iyer’s aggressive 59, combined with Gill’s 87 and Axar Patel’s 52, helped secure the win.
For England, Saqib Mahmood and Adil Rashid each claimed two wickets.
Earlier, India bowled England out for 248 runs, with debutant Harshit Rana taking 3 wickets for 53 runs and Ravindra Jadeja contributing significantly with 3 wickets for just 26 runs, crippling England’s promising start.
