SRINAGAR, Dec 22: The National Conference firmly rejected reports of joining the BJP-led NDA and described such claims as unfounded.
According to National Conference chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, these rumors propagated by certain journalists are sheer fabrications aimed at misleading the populace of Jammu and Kashmir.
This statement comes in response to a media article suggesting that the ruling party in Jammu and Kashmir might be laying the groundwork to rejoin the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in return for statehood for the Union Territory.
“It is shameful and reckless to disseminate such falsehoods… I challenge the sources of this misinformation: identify the supposed ‘top BJP officials’ that Omar Abdullah was alleged to have met, or retract your statements and offer a public apology,” he asserted in a post on X.
Sadiq noted that Abdullah’s meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi occurred transparently in front of the media.
“For clarity, his discussion with the home minister at North Block was clearly visible to the press. If this so-called journalist asserts otherwise, they should provide proof to support their claims, or concede their error. We will not allow such deceptive practices to go unchecked,” he stated.
Additionally, Sadiq cautioned that legal actions would be pursued against the publication should the article remain uncorrected.
“If this concocted narrative is not retracted at once, along with a public apology, we reserve the right to initiate legal proceedings against those accountable for damaging our reputation and misleading the public. Let this serve as a warning: dishonorable journalism will not be entertained,” the National Conference spokesperson concluded.
