AHMEDABAD, Jan 23: Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Thursday that the Narendra Modi administration has nearly completed all significant ideological tasks, including the abrogation of Article 370, and will continue this momentum into its third term.
Shah, a prominent leader of the BJP, made these comments following the inauguration of the Hindu Spiritual & Service Fair, also referred to as the ‘Hindu Adhyatmik Seva Mela,’ at the Gujarat University grounds.
He remarked that there was a time when Hindus in India hesitated to express their identity. “Over the past decade, that has significantly changed. We have achieved nearly all objectives aligned with our ideology, including the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the abolition of triple talaq, and the introduction of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC),” he said.
Although the UCC hasn’t been implemented nationwide yet, Uttarakhand, which is governed by the BJP, has already introduced it. Shah mentioned in the Rajya Sabha last month that it would be rolled out in all states.
He highlighted that while the Modi government has accomplished these enduring tasks in ten years, previous administrations avoided them for 70 years.
Shah expressed confidence that the Modi government will maintain this trajectory in its upcoming term.
He also took pride in noting that “170 countries have endorsed Yoga.”
“During the G20 Summit, global leaders paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, which is another source of pride for us. Additionally, the government successfully recovered nearly 350 stolen idols of our deities from various countries,” the Union minister remarked.
He remarked on the Hindu Adhyatmik Seva Mela, stating that Hindu temples and organizations contribute to society in various capacities, such as educating marginalized communities and providing healthcare to countless underprivileged individuals, but have rarely highlighted their efforts.
Shah expressed gratitude to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh for uniting these service-oriented Hindu organizations under this event, allowing the public to recognize their contributions.
The Seva Mela features around 200 stalls from Hindu organizations dedicated to societal improvement, including one recognizing Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, the 18th-century ruler known for restoring nearly 200 temples, including Somnath, that were destroyed by invaders, he noted. (Agencies)
