NEW DELHI, Dec 12: The Chief of Army Staff of Nepal, Gen Ashok Raj Sigdel, met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Thursday to discuss various issues related to their bilateral relations.
During the meeting, Rajnath Singh emphasized that India and Nepal, as neighboring countries, share many similar views on mutual concerns. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to enhancing relations with its neighbors in alignment with the ‘Neighborhood First Policy’, according to a statement from the Defence Ministry.
The Defence Minister expressed his contentment regarding the strong bilateral ties currently existing between the two nations.
He underscored the different aspects of defence collaboration, including training, regular military exercises, workshops, and seminars aimed at bolstering the capabilities of the Nepal Army, along with the provision of defence equipment and supplies.
Additionally, Rajnath extended his congratulations to Gen Ashok Raj Sigdel for being bestowed with the honorary rank of General in the Indian Army.
It is notable that Gen Sigdel is on a four-day visit to India.
