NEW DELHI, Jan 5: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has executed searches at the residence of an individual recently arrested in Jamia Nagar, Delhi, as part of its investigation into a case of human trafficking and cyber slavery, the agency announced on Sunday.

The raid conducted on Saturday resulted in the confiscation of various digital devices (including mobile phones and tablets) and significant financial documents, such as debit cards, bank passbooks, and cheque books from several banks.

This case centers around a criminal conspiracy involving Kamran Haider and other accomplices, who are accused of sending vulnerable Indian youth to the Golden Triangle Region in Laos, as stated by the NIA.

The victims of this operation were coerced into perpetrating cyber scams targeting citizens from Europe and the United States, the agency noted.

Current investigations suggest that Haider orchestrated the entire scheme and was also implicated in extorting funds from victims attempting to escape the Chinese scammers using cryptocurrency wallets, it further added. (PTI)
