SRINAGAR, Dec 14: The minimum temperature in most areas of Kashmir saw a notable drop on Saturday, with the Meteorological Department predicting a cold wave throughout the valley over the next three days.
Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 4.6 degrees Celsius, which is over two degrees lower than the previous night.
Gulmarg reported a low of minus 7.6 degrees Celsius, an increase of two degrees from the previous evening.
Pahalgam, the base camp for the annual Amarnath Yatra, recorded the lowest temperature in the valley at minus 8.4 degrees Celsius.
Other areas reported temperatures as follows: Qazigund – minus 5.6 degrees Celsius, Kupwara in northern Kashmir – minus 4.7 degrees Celsius, and Kokernag in southern Kashmir – minus 4.2 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department has indicated that predominantly dry weather is expected until December 21, although temperatures are likely to continue dropping across the valley, with a cold wave affecting many regions over the next three days.
