NC Chief Spokesperson and Zadibal MLA Tanvir Sadiq refuted the claims, attributing them to those “aiming to instigate discord between the LG administration and the J&K government.”
“While Jammu and Kashmir is currently a Union Territory, it still has an elected government,” Sadiq explained to reporters in Srinagar. “The reports seem to originate from individuals attempting to stir up trouble between the LG administration and our government. Up to this point, we haven’t faced significant issues, and we remain hopeful there won’t be any,” he stated.
He stressed that the National Conference does not seek a dual power structure in Jammu and Kashmir.
“With an elected government in place, things have been progressing positively. We wish for the restoration of statehood soon so that the power dynamics are unified, allowing the government to effectively serve the public and address their issues,” he continued.
Sadiq underscored the importance of democracy in India, emphasizing that elected officials are meant to serve the population.
“It’s important for the LG administration and officials to recognize that statehood will eventually be restored. When that happens, the elected government will assume control, and these officials will operate under the direction of the people’s representatives,” he remarked.
Regarding the promise of free electricity, Sadiq affirmed that commitments such as providing 200 free electricity units would be honored after the winter season begins, prioritizing uninterrupted power supply during this time.
