Srinagar, Jan 3: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated on Friday that normalcy has yet to be fully achieved in Jammu and Kashmir, despite ongoing efforts towards peace as terror attacks persist. His comments followed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s assertion that Article 370 had fostered separatism among Kashmir’s youth, claiming the Narendra Modi government has eliminated both terrorism and its underlying ecosystem in the region.
Abdullah, when asked about Shah’s statement, chose to refrain from commenting directly, instead highlighting that reports of attacks still emerge. “Even today, normalcy has not been completely restored in Jammu and Kashmir. It’s a process, and we will have to wait to see what unfolds in the days ahead,” he remarked to reporters.
He also dismissed rumors about a name change for Jammu and Kashmir to “Kashyap,” emphasizing that such claims are unfounded and any such decision would require the Jammu and Kashmir government’s approval.
When questioned about the government’s readiness for anticipated snowfall, Abdullah assured that the administration was well-prepared. “We are ready and have had multiple meetings. Our experiences from past snowfall will help us improve in areas where we faced challenges,” he stated.
Regarding the electricity supply situation in the valley, he noted efforts are being made to improve it, claiming this year’s power conditions are better than in previous years. “There are power cuts, but we are working to provide electricity to residents according to the established schedule and rectify any system issues promptly,” he added.
