Karachi, Dec 21: A delegation from New Zealand Cricket has arrived in Pakistan to evaluate security and other arrangements for an upcoming tri-series scheduled for January.
The tri-series will feature hosts Pakistan and New Zealand, along with South Africa as the third participant.
This multi-team event serves as a precursor to the ICC Champions Trophy, taking place in February and March.
The delegation, which includes security expert Reg Dickason and a representative from the New Zealand Players’ Association, Brad Rodden, is in Karachi and Lahore to finalize security measures and other preparations for the event.
Simultaneously, a high-level team from the ICC is also in Pakistan to assess ongoing preparations for the eight-team Champions Trophy.
The ICC representatives have already visited the National Stadium in Karachi before continuing their tour to Lahore and Rawalpindi.
According to a PCB official, these visits are a routine part of major event preparations, especially with Pakistan gearing up to host top-tier cricket teams in the coming months.
The New Zealand and ICC delegations are closely monitoring the renovation and upgrading projects underway at the stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, with an investment of 12 billion rupees being made to ensure they are ready for the Champions Trophy.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated on Friday that the board is fully prepared to host all teams, confidently asserting that construction work at the stadiums will be completed ahead of schedule.
He also assured that high-level security measures will be implemented for all visiting teams, which he will personally oversee as federal minister for interior.
As part of their evaluation, the NZC delegation visited both Rawalpindi Stadium and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Pakistan is set to host New Zealand and South Africa for an ODI tri-series just days before the Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to take place from February 19 to March 9. (Agencies)
