JAMMU, Dec 22: Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, announced on Sunday that he has decided to cancel all his engagements in Jammu and remain in Kashmir for the upcoming week due to the extreme cold weather and associated challenges.
In a message posted on X, he stated that he will oversee the operations of the power and other essential departments personally.
“Given the severe cold spell affecting the Kashmir valley and the ensuing challenges with water and electricity supply, I have opted to cancel my upcoming events in Jammu and will be stationed in Srinagar for the next week. This will enable me to directly monitor the workings of the Power department and other crucial departments,” he remarked.
He acknowledged that this cancellation may cause some disruption to the organizers and expressed his apologies.
“I recognize that my decision to cancel engagements in Jammu may be inconvenient for the organizers, and I sincerely regret this. However, under the current circumstances, this is the prudent choice, and I commit to compensating those affected,” he added.
Furthermore, he mentioned that he is returning from Jaisalmer and will reach Srinagar by tomorrow morning.
