Srinagar, Feb 21: Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, stated on Friday that his government aims to meet the expectations of the people; however, he emphasized that not all issues could be tackled at once.
“I understand that people have aspirations (from us), and we will strive to meet them. Yet, it’s important to recognize that we have been given a five-year mandate. It isn’t feasible for all demands to be satisfied in our initial budget.
“We will initiate a solid beginning, and our goal is to establish a foundation for future progress over the next five years, addressing the concerns and needs of the population,” Abdullah informed journalists here.
When questioned about the brigade commander-level flag meeting between India and Pakistan along the Line of Control in Poonch district on Friday, the Chief Minister remarked that it was a constructive step towards reducing tension.
“The purpose of the flag meeting was to alleviate tensions peacefully,” he noted.
On the same day, India and Pakistan conducted the flag meeting as part of efforts to reduce hostilities following several recent incidents of cross-border firing and an IED attack. The meeting commenced around 11 am and lasted for 75 minutes at the Chakkan-Da-Bagh crossing point, during which both sides emphasized the necessity of maintaining tranquility along the borders.
