JAMMU, Feb 23: The President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, emphasized the significant contributions of the Sikh community to the cultural fabric of Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the Government is committed to the holistic development and advancement of this community.
These comments were made during his participation in the Gurmat Samagam at Gurdwara Singh Sabha Guru Nanak Nagar, an event organized by Arunpal Singh, Chairman of the Sikh Youth Welfare Association, to celebrate the Prakash Ustav of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, the Tenth Guru of the Sikh Panth.
Accompanying him on this visit was the Party’s Provincial President from Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta, alongside Tejinder Pal Singh, District President of Jammu Urban YNC, as well as all members of the Sikh Youth Welfare Association.
“The Sikh community has a profound historical presence in the Kashmir valley, significantly enriching our cultural and political environment,” he remarked, continuing, “For too long, this community has been overlooked. Since 2014, both Central and State Governments have inadequately addressed the concerns of the Sikh populace, resulting in their marginalization. The Government led by Omar Abdullah is dedicated to empowering the Sikh community, particularly focusing on improving their employment prospects and access to education.”
While paying homage to Guru Ji, Dr. Farooq noted, “Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji symbolizes courage, sacrifice, and justice. His principles continue to guide humanity toward equality, righteousness, selfless service, and universal brotherhood. His tenets and values inspire people around the globe and will be honored by future generations.”
