Jammu, February 19: Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, announced on Wednesday that he has addressed the issue of ragging involving a Kashmiri MBBS student at a college in Karnataka with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who has promised appropriate action.
A second-year MBBS student from Kashmir attending Al Ameen College in Karnataka reported being beaten and harassed by a group of senior students.
“I have discussed this unfortunate event with @CMofKarnataka @siddaramaiah ji. He assured me that an FIR has been registered and necessary actions will be taken. The four students identified as responsible for this ragging and assault have been recognized,” Abdullah shared on X.
His comments were in response to a post from Imran Nabi Dar, the state spokesperson for his party, the National Conference.
“The ragging incident at a college in Karnataka, where another Kashmiri student was violently attacked by some individuals in the college hostel, is completely condemnable and unacceptable. We demand an immediate arrest of those responsible and a firm directive from @CMofKarnataka,” Dar stated on X.
