Mumbai, January 30: The Oscar-nominated live-action short film “Anuja” is set to debut on Netflix on February 5, as announced by the streaming service on Thursday.
Directed by Adam J Graves, the film tells a touching story of resilience, love, and opportunity in the face of adversity.
“Anuja” features Hollywood star Mindy Kaling as a producer and boasts executive producers such as two-time Oscar winner Guneet Monga and renowned actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
Kaling expressed her gratitude towards Netflix for bringing the film to a global audience.
“Having ‘Anuja’ on Netflix is a dream come true. I’m thankful to Bela Bajaria and Netflix India for recognizing the beauty in this short film and allowing it to reach a worldwide audience,” the actor-producer stated.
Graves, who co-produced “Anuja” with his wife Suchitra Mattai, shared their excitement about the film’s release.
“We are incredibly thankful that ‘Anuja’ has found a place on Netflix. This hopeful narrative came to fruition thanks to a collaborative effort with many talented individuals. We’re thrilled that audiences around the world will finally be able to enjoy the fruits of our collective labor,” he said.
At the upcoming 97th Academy Awards, “Anuja” will compete against other short films including “A Lien,” “I’m Not a Robot,” “The Last Ranger,” and “The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent.”
The film was produced in collaboration with Salaam Baalak Trust (SBT), a nonprofit organization founded by filmmaker Mira Nair’s family to support street and working children, along with Shine Global and Krushan Naik Films. (Agencies)
