MUMBAI, Jan 31: The travel and tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir is optimistic that the J&K Government’s participation in the OTM will lead to an increase in tourist arrivals to the Union Territory. They extended their gratitude to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Department of Tourism for facilitating their involvement in the event.
Trade leaders expressed their hopes that the ongoing OTM would significantly enhance tourist traffic to the region.
They also thanked key figures including Chief Minister’s Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, Commissioner Secretary of Tourism Yasha Mudgal, and Director of Tourism Kashmir Raja Yaqoob for their support in making this participation possible.
In addition, the leaders appreciated the Chief Minister’s commitment to providing an annual calendar of tourism events for Jammu and Kashmir, which is expected to improve planning and coordination. Furthermore, they welcomed the establishment of a Tourism Advisory Board aimed at bolstering the strategic direction of the industry.
The tourism industry leaders, including Nasir Shah, Chairman of IATO, and representatives from various tourism associations such as the Travel Agents Society of Kashmir (TASK), Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Alliance (JKTA), and others, acknowledged the Chief Minister and the Department of Tourism for their ongoing efforts to promote the sector.
They expressed their anticipation for strengthened promotional initiatives and enhanced tourism policies that could positively impact the industry and contribute to Jammu and Kashmir’s economic development.
Alongside the OTM event, Jammu & Kashmir Tourism also hosted a MICE Meet at Trident, BKC, Mumbai, to showcase the region as a prime location for business events. This initiative aims to have a significant and lasting effect on the growth of J&K’s tourism by attracting corporate conferences and large-scale events.
