Amritsar/Jammu, Feb 26: Early Wednesday, a Pakistani intruder was shot dead by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel along the international border in Pathankot, Punjab, as reported by officials.
The BSF noticed suspicious activity at the Border Outpost Tashpatan area along the International Border (IB). When challenged by the troops, the intruder continued moving past into Indian territory without stopping.
He was subsequently shot, and efforts are underway to determine his identity, according to the officials.
A spokesperson from the BSF’s Jammu frontier indicated that a formal protest would be raised with the Pakistan Rangers regarding this incident.
The BSF is responsible for securing the India-Pakistan international border, which includes a 553-km section in Punjab.
