JAMMU, Dec 28: On the occasion of the 33rd Homeland Day, Kashmiri Pandits solemnly vowed to escalate their efforts aimed at establishing a separate homeland for over seven lakh KPs along the North Eastern bank of the Jehlum River. This commitment is in line with the Marg Darshan Resolution of 1991, which has received full backing from the global community members.
A resolution was passed, reaffirming dedication to the Margdarshan Resolution, and calling for the establishment of a separate Union Territory for the permanent rehabilitation of Kashmiri Hindus north of the Jehlum River.
In another resolution, community members expressed strong condemnation of the government’s neglect towards their community, urging the Union Government to remove the degrading migrant designation and to implement immediate measures to improve relief, ensure security for PM package employees, and create employment prospects for KPs outside the Valley. The resolutions were presented by Anantaditya Aima.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ajay Chrungoo, chairman of PK, criticized the ongoing denial of the genocide faced by Kashmiri Hindus, denouncing both the indifference of the State and the global silence on the issue. He stated that the quest for justice goes beyond land; it is about recognizing the suffering of the community. He reiterated the Margdarshan Resolution, advocating for a separate Union Territory designated for the permanent rehabilitation of Kashmiri Hindus, deeming it a vital necessity amidst escalating jihadist threats and the political establishment’s failure to address the community’s situation.
He emphasized that a long-standing genocide war is expanding throughout the country, citing the return of Bangladesh to its former status as East Pakistan and Pakistan’s regained influence over it. He noted the erasure of the remnants of Bangladesh’s freedom struggle and the ousting of the democratically elected Sheikh Hasina Government, which poses a significant challenge to rational thinkers and great civilizations worldwide.
Dr. Ajay urged the Indian Government to resolutely halt this genocide war, asserting that Bangladesh now poses a threat to India akin to that of Pakistan.
The assembly of Kashmiri Pandits at Kangra Fort Barnai today resolved to persist in their quest for a foothold in Kashmir, from which they were forcibly displaced by Islamic jihadists.
This year’s event was themed “Kashmiri Hindus caught between Jehad and denial of genocide,” with the convention hosted by Akriti Raina and Vishwaranjan Pandita.
Opening remarks were delivered by Shaliendra Aima, vice chairman of PK, who emphasized the importance of this gathering and the ongoing pursuit for justice and recognition.
Former Police Director General Dr. SP Vaid provided a compelling address, analyzing the security landscape in Jammu and Kashmir. A notable lecture was given by Colonel (retired) R.S.N. Singh, a security expert and political analyst. His enlightening discussion highlighted the challenges confronting Indian Hindus, particularly in light of rising extremism and threats to their safety and cultural identity. His insights called for immediate action to safeguard the rights and security of Kashmiri Hindus, while also reflecting on the broader struggle faced by Hindus across the nation.
Other notable speakers included Nitin Dhar and Kulshi Pandita, a prominent female leader. In a virtual address, Dr. Kuldeep Datta underscored the persistent challenges facing the Kashmiri Hindu community.
The event also featured soulful renditions of Kashmiri folk songs by Rajesh Khar and party, followed by traditional Kashmiri music led by Ramesh Zafran and his group, which infused the atmosphere with vitality and energy.
