NEW DELHI, Dec 10:
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to the Indian team for their outstanding performance at the recently held 10th Asia Pacific Deaf Games in Kuala Lumpur, describing their success as a “remarkable feat”.
The Indian contingent secured a total of 55 medals at the Games.
Comprising 68 athletes, India achieved eight gold, 18 silver, and 29 bronze medals during the event, which took place from December 1 to 8.
India ranked fifth among 21 competing teams.
“Heartfelt congratulations to our Indian contingent for an extraordinary performance at the 10th Asia Pacific Deaf Games 2024 in Kuala Lumpur!
“Our skilled athletes have brought tremendous pride to our country by winning an impressive 55 medals, marking India’s best-ever performance at these Games. This outstanding achievement has inspired the entire nation, particularly those who are passionate about sports,” Modi posted on Twitter.
This accomplishment stands in stark contrast to the last Asia Pacific Deaf Games held in Taoyuan, Taiwan in 2015, where the Indian team won just five medals — three gold and two silver. (PTI)
